Gitanjali Law Firm considers requests for pro bono or reduced-fee assistance where a person is vulnerable, the issue is urgent and the matter falls within the firm’s legal practice. Advocate Gita Acharya assesses each request privately and honestly.
What we may help with
Human rights concerns can overlap with family law, criminal defence, property, employment, documentation or access to public services. The first step is to identify what happened, who has authority to act, what evidence exists and which forum can provide a remedy.
Requests may be considered from people in Pokhara and Kaski, elsewhere in Gandaki Province, or Nepalis contacting the firm from abroad. The office is based at Mustang Chowk, Pokhara-7; the firm does not represent itself as a nationwide emergency service or a substitute for an emergency authority.
Possible areas of support
01
Domestic violence, coercion, discrimination and urgent family-law protection.
02
Initial advice about arrest, detention, bail, evidence and the correct court.
03
Citizenship, land, inheritance or records being withheld from a vulnerable person.
04
Custody, maintenance, protection and the child’s welfare in family disputes.
05
Power of attorney, family property and lawful representation from outside Nepal.
06
Clear direction to police, protection services, legal-aid organisations or another forum when appropriate.
Move somewhere safe and contact Nepal Police on 100 or the relevant emergency and protection service. Preserve photographs, messages and medical records only if doing so will not increase risk.
Legal consultation is confidential, but this website is not an emergency hotline. Do not wait for an online reply when someone is in immediate danger.
Some matters may be considered for reduced-fee or pro bono assistance after an initial assessment. Capacity, urgency, vulnerability, jurisdiction and the nature of the legal issue all matter, so assistance cannot be guaranteed for every request.
You can contact the firm about domestic violence, discrimination, unlawful deprivation of liberty, access to essential documents, exploitation, property or family rights affecting a vulnerable person, and other urgent legal concerns. We will explain whether the matter is within the firm's forum and expertise.
Yes. A family member, support worker or trusted person may make an initial enquiry, but confidential instructions and decisions must normally come from the affected person or an authorised representative. Do not send sensitive information if it could put someone at risk.
Immediate safety comes first. Contact Nepal Police on 100 or the appropriate emergency and protection service. Legal consultation is not a substitute for emergency intervention; call the firm when it is safe to do so.
Call or WhatsApp the Pokhara office. Explain the urgency and what has happened; we will tell you the next realistic step.
